Every job has its own advantages and challenges and the same is the case with job rotation. As we all know job rotation helps to understand if an employee is able to perform a job in the correct way or not. Moreover, this is the best way to know the actual capability of the employee. The employee not only gets experience but learns so much from the new set of tasks. General job rotation involves changing the job of an employee and giving a job that he\she can do well. This will not only help the employer but the employee too. Therefore, proper planning about the program needs to be done much beforehand. So that it proves to be a beneficial affair and not a costly one.

Challenges Of Job Rotation Program

  • One of the main disadvantages of the job rotation program is that it is not necessary that the employee is able to perform better in the new job given. It is possible that the employee does not understand the job and fails to perform.
  • Another most common challenge that job rotation brings is that employees are not able to adjust with his\her new colleagues. This affects the performance of the employee.
  • Due to the poor performance of the employee the company suffers.
  • Job rotation can be time taking as some of the employees takes time to understand the new job. 
  • There are chances that the new job can lead to stress and anxiety amongst the employees. Which in turn, however, can hamper there performance.
  • However, any new program involves some cost. And not all companies are ready to bear the price for the extra time that the employees take to understand the job and work accordingly. Sometimes this program proves to be a costly affair.

Conclusion

Today time is money. Every minute counts and is important for the employee and the company. Therefore, the job rotation program has its own pros and cons. Hence, without proper planning and understanding of the skills that the employee job rotation can be a costly affair.
