EEO-1 Reporting for 2022

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing federal laws that prohibit discrimination in the workplace. The EEOC collects data on employee rights and protections through the EEO-1 report. The EEO-1 report is filed annually by all employers with over 100 employees. The report includes information about the number of employees who are protected by anti-discrimination laws, their ages, races, and genders. In addition, the report provides information on whether the employer has implemented anti-discrimination policies and procedures and if not, what needs to be done to comply.

Tentative Deadlines Announced for EEO-1 Reporting in 2022

On 6th January 2022, the EEOC (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) announced its tentative schedule for data collection. On April 12, 2022, the EEOC is tentatively scheduled to open the 2021 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection, which applies to private-sector employers. Additionally, the tentative deadline to file is May 17th, 2022.

Covered Employers for EEO-1 Reporting

The EEO-1 report is an annual federal report required of all employers. All employers are required to report that information to the government; however, not all employers are required to complete the EEO-1 report. The EEO-1 report requires that employers post several questions relating to employee compensation and benefits. This information will provide the government with insight into the pay-for-job performance disparities between male and female workers. However, some employers are exempt from reporting.

On March 8, 2019, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued its final regulation requiring federal contractors, subcontractors, and federal grantees to report on their pay by race, ethnicity, and gender, and to furnish compensation data for job applicants. The regulation, which goes into effect on April 1, 2019, applies to covered employers with 100 or more employees. Covered employers are required to report compensation data annually, in separate years.

Final Words

In conclusion, EEO-1 reporting is a series of forms businesses complete to report demographic information about their employee demographics. The EEO–1 Report is required to be filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) each year by covered employers. This reporting is a way for companies to better understand and preserve the diversity of their workforce. Employers who fail to comply can be held criminally liable for damages and penalties for violating the law.
