Additionally, with the belief that organizations will be increasingly comprised of both remote and in-office employees, there will be a need to reinforce collaboration techniques and tools. This will help the employees to work together efficiently, regardless of location. A reintroduction to the workplace without any well-thought-out strategy can be precarious and dangerous. In this article, we will discuss helpful tips, considerations, and suggestions for the new hybrid work model after COVID-19.

Tips for Organizations Returning to Work Post COVID-19

Organizations that are planning to transform the office post COVID-19, so that the employees can get back to the office, require a proper strategy to maintain the safety rebuilds morale. Organizations need to implement precautionary and safety measures provided by the OSHA (Health and Safety Administration), CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), and state and local public health administrators. Here are some tips to assure the successful shift back to work after COVID-19.

1. Adopt a Hybrid Work Model

In a recent study Valoir, a research firm found that working remotely has a very small negative impact of 1–3% on productivity. Despite vital logistical challenges and difficulties due to the unexpected change, including lack of sufficient office equipment, employees are able to give results.

Planning a hybrid work model with a blend of in-office and remote workers provides employees the flexibleness to get back to the workplace only if they are ready and comfortable. Also, having a smaller team return to the workplace can help employees to follow social distancing and lessen the spread of coronavirus.

2. Execute a Rotational Work Schedule

Implementing a rotational work schedule is a great way to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in the workplace. This will avoid the cluster of employees physically working close together. Also, the rotational schedule will allow every employee to work from the office and home. Both groups of employees can work effectively together by using communication tools such as video conferencing and chat apps.

3. Restructure the Offices

Due to the social distancing guidelines, offices need to create appropriate space between the desks and use proper barriers between the workstations. Also, organizations may require to establish policies to restrict the number of people in the office and outsiders visiting the workplace unannounced.

4. Promote Hygiene and Self-isolation

At this time of the coronavirus outbreak, it is important to encourage the employees to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly. Also, ask them to avoid touching their noses, eyes, and mouths. Educate the office staff about the signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Permit them to stay at home if they are not feeling well. It will be advantageous to consider executing a flexible sick leave policy to help employees who are tested positive for COVID-19.

Conclusion

The safety and wellness of the employees is the ultimate goal of the organization during this COVID-19 pandemic. Keep these considerations in mind while developing the strategy for transitioning back in office life.
