2020 Employee Handbook Checklist

The employee handbook needs to have a checklist for the onboarding process of the new employees. However, there are certain criteria’s an employee need to fulfill before he\she starts working in the organization. The staff manual that is the handbook is an introduction for the new employees as it provides detailed information about the company. Moreover, it is important for the employee to know the company, its policies, its expectations, rules, laws, and employment information. The letter of the CEO or the president of the company is there to welcome an individual as a part of the organization.  The document also has the mission, goals, and vision clearly mentioned in the document. The working culture and conditions that the employee needs to follow are also mentioned in the staff handbook.

 

Employee Handbook Policy Updates Checklist For 2020

There are certain policies that need to be updated in the employee handbook for 2020. The following policies are very important to be a part of the staff manual.

  • Policies of the company in relation to Dress code- Each company has its own policies for dress code. The attire of the employee must be sober and acceptable to the company. It is the responsibility of the company to treat everyone equally. 
  • A recent update to the employee handbook is the employee dating policy-  With the changing times avoiding employees to get into awkward situations the companies need to add dating policies into the staff book. Such a policy in written format proves to be beneficial as it helps to set boundaries for employees. These guidelines prove to be necessary for each employee.
  • There need to be policies to avoid conflicts, misunderstandings between female and male employees. However, nepotism, favoritism, sexual harassment, gender inequality are all crimes and are punishable according to law. Hence, such policies need to be entered in the handbook.

 

Some More Policies For Updating Staff Document: Handbook

  • There needs to policies in the handbook that suggest a smooth work environment. Flexible work policy is very important considering the job flexibility, overtime, compressed work weeks and more. This policy helps to know who is eligible for a certain type of job requirement.
  • The company needs to draw lines for accepting gifts from vendors, customers and more. Therefore a special policy related to gifts and favor policy needs to be updated to the employee handbook. So that they know what is acceptable by the company and what is not. This policy, however, includes the range to which an employee is liable to take favors.
  • For resolving employee complains there is a special policy. The employees have a right to file complains and gets the resolutions accordingly. This leads to perfect transparency amongst the employees and the employer.

 

Every company has the right to include personal policies that are needed specifically for a certain company. There are, however, certain policies that are mandatory for all companies and organizations. Moreover, before setting policies for employee handbooks it is always better to get them reviewed by the law councils. As is important for the company to make the employees feel comfortable and safe while working in the company.
