ABOUT THE EVENT

Proper verification is the foundation of every compliant HUD certification, yet verification errors remain one of the leading causes of Management and Occupancy Review (MOR) findings, repayment obligations, and costly compliance issues.

This webinar provides a practical, comprehensive review of HUD Multifamily verification requirements before and after HOTMA implementation. You'll learn the updated verification hierarchy, expanded self-certification options, Safe Harbor income verification, revised EIV requirements, asset limitations, disability verification, and current documentation standards.

Beyond understanding what must be verified, you'll learn how to determine whether the documentation collected is sufficient to support eligibility, annual income, adjusted income, and rent calculations. Through real-world examples and common file review scenarios, you'll strengthen your ability to identify deficiencies, improve documentation, and avoid the verification mistakes that frequently result in MOR findings.

Whether you prepare certifications, review tenant files, or oversee compliance operations, this webinar will provide practical strategies you can implement immediately to strengthen your property's compliance program.

Why You Should Attend

Verification errors can lead to audit findings, repayment demands, delayed certifications, and unnecessary compliance risk. With HOTMA introducing significant changes to HUD's verification requirements—including expanded self-certifications, Safe Harbor verification, revised EIV procedures, and a new verification hierarchy - it's essential to ensure your verification practices are up to date.

Join this session to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to apply today's HUD requirements correctly, strengthen file documentation, and reduce compliance risk before your next MOR or file review.

Areas Covered

  • Understand HUD's verification hierarchy and documentation requirements before and after HOTMA.
  • Verify income, assets, deductions, disability status, student eligibility, and other household eligibility factors correctly.
  • Apply HOTMA's new verification rules, including self-certifications, Safe Harbor verification, streamlined asset verification, revised EIV procedures, and updated documentation requirements.
  • Review verification requirements for Social Security numbers, disability determinations, medical expenses, service and assistance animals, and reasonable accommodation requests.
  • Identify common MOR findings involving verification, calculations, file documentation, annual recertifications, and interim recertifications—and learn how to prevent them.
