Duration: 60 minutes | Speaker: Rhanda McKown |
This training dives deep into how deductions, allowances, and unreimbursed medical expenses affect rent calculations for HUD-funded properties. Attendees will learn the difference between deductions and allowances, and gain clarity on which expenses count—and which don’t—when calculating adjusted income. The session also covers essential updates from HOTMA, including changes to thresholds for medical and disability deductions, and phased-in hardship exemptions. You’ll walk through common eligible and ineligible expenses, documentation and verification requirements, and how to avoid duplication errors. Real-world scenarios and calculations bring the policy to life, showing exactly how deductions should be applied during initial certifications, interims, and annual recerts. If your team handles rent calculations or income verifications, this is the training that helps get it right—and stay in compliance.
