For the past six consecutive years, disability-related complaints have accounted for almost half – or, recently, MORE than half - of all fair housing complaints filed! The common theme in these complaints is the alleged refusal to allow a reasonable accommodation or modification. When does an illness rise to the level of a disability? What is an accommodation? A modification? What exactly is “reasonable” – what criteria should we use when evaluating requests? What do HUD, DOJ and the courts say about our responsibilities and how to meet them? Can we still be sued or the subject of a complaint even if we do everything correctly? You’ll learn the answers to all of these questions in this fast-moving informative session!
