ABOUT THE EVENT

Keeping up with the rapidly changing rules around accommodating pregnant employees can be challenging. This webinar will address key questions such as: Do you need to accommodate a pregnant employee since normal pregnancy isn’t a "disability" under the ADA/ADAAA? What laws apply when an employee requests more frequent breaks due to pregnancy? What are the obligations under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act for reasonable accommodations?

We’ll also explore state and municipal laws requiring accommodations for pregnant employees, EEOC guidelines on pregnancy-related conditions like gestational diabetes or hypertension, and the legal requirements for nursing mothers post-birth, including the PUMP Act.

Additionally, are you aware of NYC's Model Lactation Accommodation Policies and recent laws requiring lactation rooms and break times? Understand the new Paid Prenatal Leave law in New York State and learn what your Lactation Policy should include, with a sample draft provided.

This Webinar Will Provide Answers to these Questions and More:

  • What does the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act require regarding reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers?
  • What states and municipalities require reasonable accommodations for pregnant employees?
  • What is the “Interactive Process” that is required when a pregnant employee requests a reasonable accommodation
  • Types of reasonable accommodations you may need to provide to a pregnant employee
  • What procedures should you have in place for providing reasonable accommodations to pregnant employees?
  • Reasonable break time for nursing moms: what is required?
  • Federal, state and local laws requiring reasonable break time
  • New York's New Paid Prenatal Leave Law
  • Lactation room requirements
  • Model lactation accommodation policies and procedures
