This class is applicable to all projects covered by the 4350.3 Multifamily HUD Occupancy Handbook. Project Based Section 8, 236, 202/8, 202 PRAC, 811 PRAC, etc.

Knowing the regulations and processes for managing a HUD property waiting list are put to the test in a MOR. More importantly, they are key to staying in compliance with Fair Housing laws. This webinar will review creating and maintaining, opening and closing, placing families with disabled members, documenting changes, updating waiting list information, removing names from the waiting list, reinstating applicants to the list, and record-keeping.

This course will reference the 4350.3 as well as HUD’s Notice H 2014-16 Waiting List Administration.

Recently, their waiting list policies cost a Bronx, NY 202/8 $60,000 after FHEO issued a finding of discrimination.  Don’t let this happen to you!

  • Know how to update the waiting list and keep auditable records

It covers Chapter 4, Section of the HUD 4350.3 Section 3 and 4 which are summarized as follows in the introduction to Chapter 4:

Section 3: Waiting List Management includes information related to application taking, waiting lists, and record-keeping related to tenant applications.

Section 4: Selecting Tenants from the Waiting List covers tenant selection and screening criteria. It also discusses applicant interviews, and applicable requirements and procedures when applicants are found to be ineligible, including written notification to applicants of denial of assistance.
