Annual and Interim Recertifications are among the most important - and most frequently misunderstood - responsibilities in HUD Multifamily housing. A missed deadline, incorrect effective date, incomplete verification, or TRACS error can quickly turn into a tenant file issue, MOR finding, or subsidy repayment.
This practical, compliance-focused webinar takes you step by step through the Annual Recertification (AR) and Interim Recertification (IR) process, from determining when a certification is required through tenant notification, interviews, verification, certification, and TRACS submission.
Grounded in HUD Handbook 4350.3 and current post-HOTMA requirements, the session helps participants understand what has changed, what remains the same, and how to apply the requirements correctly in day-to-day operations.
You’ll get clear guidance on AR and IR timelines, required notices, cutoff dates, effective dates, verification requirements, tenant self-reporting, EIV discrepancies, income and asset changes, repayment agreements, and termination of assistance procedures. The webinar also addresses common situations that create confusion for onsite teams, including late tenant responses, unreported income, rent changes, and corrections to previously submitted certifications.
Special attention is given to HOTMA’s impact on income and asset calculations, verification standards, and interim processing, along with practical guidance for completing HUD-50059s, meeting TRACS submission requirements, reconciling error reports, and keeping tenant files, rent rolls, and vouchers properly aligned.
Most importantly, this is not just a discussion of rules. Participants will leave with practical checklists, procedures, and best practices they can use immediately to improve file quality, strengthen documentation, reduce errors, and manage AR and IR certifications with greater confidence.
