ABOUT THE EVENT

This Course Will Be Presented in 2 Parts, 3 Hours Each

Advanced Part 1: Mar 29, 1-4 pm ET
Advanced Part 2: Mar 30, 12-3 pm ET

IMPORTANT:  This course is NOT for projects that utilize HUD Form 50058 to certify applicants and residents.

Students will learn what EIV does and does not report, refresh and data match schedules EIV follows, how to read the EIV Income Report and Income Discrepancy Report, what HUD requires, how to investigate and resolve tenant income discrepancies – both valid and invalid, and the rules of resident repayment agreements.  Students will practice reconciling the EIV Income Discrepancy Report, identifying overpayments and underpayments of subsidy, and using third-party verification to calculate what the tenant owes or has overpaid in rent. Students will need a calculator.  Mini-quizzes and case studies are included to reinforce the learning.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Read and interpret the EIV Income Report
  • Read interpret the EIV Income Discrepancy Report
  • Investigate, resolve, and document valid Income Discrepancies
  • Investigate, explain and document  invalid Income Discrepancies
  • Create repayment agreements
  • Identify whether reported Income Discrepancy is Valid or Invalid
  • Calculate overpayment and underpayment of subsidy for Valid Discrepancies
  • Understand the tenant’s obligations and the Owner’s obligations in resolving an Income Discrepancy
  • Investigate and document the file to resolve Invalid and Valid Income Discrepancies
  • Comply with the Time Frames required by HUD

Who Should Attend:

This course is for managers of properties that are overseen by the HUD Office of Multifamily and who utilize HUD Form 50059 to certify applicants and residents in the following types of projects:

  • Project-Based Section 8
  • Section 236
  • 202/8
  • 202 PAC
  • 202 PRAC
  • 811 PRAC
  • Properties that have converted to Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA( through HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program.

IMPORTANT:  This course is NOT for projects that utilize HUD Form 50058 to certify applicants and residents.   Examples are Public Housing projects, Housing Choice Vouchers, and projects that converted to Project-Based Vouchers (PBV) through the RAD program.
